Lily

Last Sunday when I was getting ready for church Lily wanted hot rollers too. She always has to sit with me and "put on makeup" when I do, thus her interesting lipstick eyebrows.
I just thought it was cute. She is such a girly girl and I love it. She is obsessed with: shoes, clothes, makeup, doing hair and brushing her teeth. She is a cutie. Just thought I'd share these recent pics of her.

Tag: My 6 Quirks

I was tagged by Briana to do this. I really should be folding laundry though! :)

Here are the rules:
1. Link the person(s) that tagged you (Briana)

2. Mention the rules on your blog

3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours

4. Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them (Becky, Ramanda, Kate, KaraJean, Debi, Jen, Shannon)

My Unspectacular Quirks

1. I will not go grocery shopping if my house, especially my kitchen is dirty. All dishes have to be done and the fridge cleaned out before I'll bring home groceries.

2. I count every stair I ever walk on. I read words backwards and do weird things with numbers on alarm clocks. Yep, I'm borderline crazy. Can you say "O.C.D?"

3. I've been "growing my hair out" for 10+ years now. I will cut it all off at the shortest layer (when my hair is layered), thus saying, it can all grow out one length, then when it reaches a little past my shoulders I layer it again, and I have repeated this cycle for what seems like forever now. I get bored with hair really quick and need a change.

4. I'm obsessed with me and my family sleeping on clean sheets. I refuse to put my kids to bed (after they've had a bath), in a bed without clean sheets. Needless to say, our sheets wear out very quickly. But hey, we're sleeping clean right? (Man, the more I write the more crazy I'm beginning to think I am)

5. I am also a picker Briana. A huge picker. (remember the ward Christmas party a few years ago? I found your grey hair?) Oh dear, so embarrassing. I pick at everything, and my kids already hate it. Darren has told me not to pick at him at church, so I have to refrain, but I still am allowed to pick a stray hair off his shirt. :)

6. I HATE doing laundry with a passion. It is my lot in life that I can't stand. I do it, but in my mind it's just a never ending task that will never ever end forever! I like to do things that get done, and get done for a while. When I know I'll have to do it over and over again, it really gets on my nerves. When I was younger, my mom would tell me to go feel if the clothes were dry in the dryer and if they were, to pull them out and fold them...... Well, I would always get a cup of water and throw it on them and then start the dryer again and say, "nope mom, not dry yet!" My kids better not do that! :)

Well, there are my 6 quirks. I am a little OCD, but who isn't to some extent right?

Just Chillin'

Our family is enjoying the cool fall weather that we are not used to having! We've always lived where it's really really hot (Las Vegas, Gerogia, Texas), and we are not used to this cool comfy weather! We feel spoiled. We basically live outside when we can. Here's just a few pics of us tonight enjoying some fam' time grilling dogs and roasting marshmallows for smores. The kids had fun, cause it involved fire (Ethan), and they loved the smores'. Have a good weekend all!

Ashton is ready with his roasting stick! :)

Ethan blowing out his "on fire marshmallow", which caught fire
a lot "on accident" so Ethan says. I think he just loved to see it
ignite and then blow it out!

Delicious! :)

Stuff

I've been all consumed with the hurricane stuff, so I thought I'd do a normal posting of us recently. This week at Ethan's school is spirit week and today was crazy hair day. So we dug out the colored gel and spiked it blue. Thought I'd include a couple of that. Then down below are some cute pics of Lily with Yoda, and "monkey Ashton", Then we have this big spider on our back porch that comes out every night, builds a web and by morning his web is "roughed up" from the kill and he tears down his web, goes somewhere to sleep and does it all over again every night. Today was the exception. He was still out waiting in his web. The moths are now gone cause it's getting very cold at night and I think the poor spider is getting hungry. Any way, here are some shots of it. I hate spiders, but Darren likes him. Boys are so weird.

Pics of Ike

I've been frustrated that I still can't find many pics of the west end of Galveston. Has any one seen any air shots of Jamaica beach or the west end? I'm just curious cause that's where I used to live. It's such a bitter sweet feeling to know that we just moved from there 3 months ago, I almost feel guilty that we didn't have to go through that, but I'm still so sad for everyone and very worried for what you all will find when you return. I read that they aren't even opening up the island till Tuesday? Those of you who evacuated, keep us posted as to your return, and take lots of pics. You all are in our prayers.

Hurricane Ike

I just checked the tracker and it's now headed basically right to Galveston, where I just moved from. I have so many friends there and I'm so worried for all of you. Know you're being prayed for as you evacuate, I hope it's an easier evacuation than Rita was. Cassidy my heart is especially with you as you have a 3 day old baby, I can only imagine the stress. God bless you all!

On your mark, get set, go!

My kids like the "Go-gurt" commercial where the kid eating yogurt looks like he's driving on his behind around the neighborhood. They asked how he did that, so Darren showed them quickly how it was done. Normally something like this would have to take several 100 pictures to make it look more realistic and smooth, but the kids soon learned that it takes LOTS of patience to do something like this and 30 pictures was all they could handle. But still, it's funny! Enjoy the video!

Baby "it"

Well, Here is the baby's first debut. It's still such a small little thing. Went to the doc today, had the wonderful experience of the first check up where you get prodded and poked in every orifice of your body. But it's worth it when you can see the growing baby and see and hear the heart pumping. And.....just as I had suspected I wasn't as far along as they thought. All you who know the baby "lingo/info", know that they take the first day of your last period, add 2 weeks and guesstimate that that was when you conceived, but I know for a fact the day I conceived and it wasn't till 3 1/2 weeks after the first day. (too much info I know), so instead of being 11 weeks, I'm only 9. So I had to reset my baby tickers on this site, but all is good. I'm just glad there is only one baby they see, and it looks normal to this point!

Ethan's first day of School

I must be really hormonal with this pregnancy because I cried like a little baby today when Ethan went to school. My heart is aching because he is gone. I don't know why it's so hard for me. This is now the 4th year he's gone. (He started going full days in Pre-K in Texas when he was 4), and yet, here I am still crying when he goes. I think it may be because in Texas he had a lot of friends and he was always out playing and since we've moved, we've really grown close as a family again since we've had no friends and we've had to depend on each other as a family and do everything together. It was a good experience for us a move because it brought our family closer, but it's sooo hard now, sending him to a school where he knows no one, I know no one and yet I'm supposed to trust that he'll be taken care of and okay. Which I have faith he will, it's so just hard! I'm sure I'll get over it quickly once I can see that he's okay and doing well and meeting friends and such, but right now, I'm so sad! Crazy huh? Everything is so emotional with your first born, because they are the "first" for everything. You do all your "firsts" in parenting with your first born and it's sometimes hard to watch them grow and move on. Time flies too quickly and I'm already dreading the day he leaves on his mission and college. What a boob I am. But I love my kids and I'm proud of them all, and I'm proud of Ethan for being a good big brother and a good example to the younger ones!

Ashton and Lily were sad to see their brother go too.
