Not to be rude but............

I want to first start on a positive note. I'm thankful I have a blog, I'm thankful people that are my friends and family can view my blog. HOWEVER, lately I've been getting "anonymous" comments on very old posts of mine. Comments that are weird and confusing to me. I don't have a clue as to who this person it. It may be multiple people, not sure, but why make a comment anonymous? Now I'm sure curious people will start looking through my old posts trying to find the comments. One of I know for sure is a post I wrote titled "Well hello stranger" on January 22. There are a couple of comments from them on there. There was another one way back when and they wrote something like: "Your blogs have improved from when you first started". Any way, please if you know who you are, either come forth and let me know, or stop commenting at all. I love comments, don't get me wrong, but I don't like them when I don't know who they are from! Sorry if this was rude. But I'd really hate to have to go private with my blog, I'm not the private kind of gal, but if I have to, I guess I will.
Thanks!

I think you can set your blog up so people can't post if they are anonymous. It is under settings/comments, they have to at least put their user id. Maybe that will discourage them from leaving unwelcome comments =(. Or install a feedjit to figure out where they are from and hunt them down LOL!!!

Yea, that's what my husband said. How annoying that has got to be. I did go back and read their comments. Obviously one is a sales pitch. Even more annoying!! Check into changing your comment stuff. I think I'm going to go change mine right now. By the way, if they were older posts, how did you find that they were doing that?

Yeah they seem to me like automated sales sorts of things. We have a family history wiki that kept getting sales links and spam posted to it, until I disabled anonymous access.

If you go to your blog settings,

Settings -> Comments -> Who can comment?

and select "Registered Users" or "Users with Google Accounts"

that should fix it (or at least make the lurker come out of the shadows! ;)

Don't go private! We love reading your blog!
