Look Mommy!!!

So Lily and I were standing in the forever long check out line at Wal-Mart today. A man standing behind us had long hair and a thick beard, tattoos up and down his arms. He looked homeless and like he hadn't taken a shower in many moons. And I'll spare you on his smell that would occasionally drift our way. I'm not trying to be mean, just paint you the picture of what I observed.
Lily had been looking at a book and then noticed him. She said in a loud 2 year old girlish squeal, "Look mommy it's Jesus!" And she waved at him and said "hi Jesus!". I turned bright red instantly and said, no honey it's not Jesus. Then I turned to him and said, "I'm so sorry." He said, "It's okay, only the children see the good in me now a days. I tend to scare the adults more than the kids."
And instantly I felt a rush or remorse for judging him at all. Not that I really judged him, but just put him in a category that I'm not even sure he's in. But I am humbled by the innocence and non-judgmental views of little children.

Huh. Interesting. I'm with you. It's sad how often I stereotype.

WOW! Good girl, Lily. Become as little children, eh? Looks like you were given a perfect example. Love the blog! I'll have to show the boys!

That's a nice little anecdote. Thanks for sharing it :)
